Cycling and camping go hand in hand quite well. Like a glass of fine wine and a perfectly paired cheese. Individually, they're great, but the combination is an entire beast. For many of us with busy schedules, taking time off for a multiple-day trip and taking the time to plan it can be hard to squeeze in. That being said, it's always a great idea to make time for relaxation. But if the time doesn't allow it and you want to get out there in the wild, the S24O (sub-24-hour overnight) is a great way to catch the bikepacking bug.
The basic idea is to ride to a campsite after work one day, either with yourself or others, have a wonderful night's sleep outside, pack up the next morning, and head to work. Quick and easy, less planning, with a minimal amount of equipment.
We first heard of this from Rivendell Bicycle Works. Check them out if you haven't had a chance. They're an outlier but offer another positive viewpoint on our already amazing industry. More info on S240 here and here.
